Contractors applaud Berger Paints’ training initiative
General Manager of Berger Paints Jamaica, Dwaine Williams, has emphasised the company's ongoing commitment to industry development.
The company recently hosted a transformative two-day contractor's academy at its head office in Kingston, aimed at deepening product knowledge and sharpening application skills among contractors. The event brought together professionals from across the construction and renovation sectors for an immersive training experience, culminating in official certification from Berger Paints.
Williams says the academy is part of the company's long-term vision to uplift the entire painting and finishing industry in Jamaica.
"By equipping professionals with technical knowledge and hands-on experience, we're not just promoting our products, we're investing in better-built homes, commercial spaces, and communities," Williams said.
The overwhelmingly positive response to our products throughout the years, is a testament to what happens when quality products meet trained hands."
One of the participating contractors, Maline Leyow, praised the experience, stating that "This kind of training is invaluable. We don't often get a chance to go behind the product label and really understand how to get the best out of a paint like Magicote. Being able to see and use it ourselves, with guidance, makes a big difference on the job, and will allow us to better serve our customers."
The two-day workshop discussed in depth the importance of surface preparation, which one has to inspect & assess, clean, scrape and sand, repairing and filling, priming/sealing, and masking and protection. Additionally, the workshop covered other aspects of painting, including paint types, application techniques, safety practices and business considerations.
"This workshop aimed to equip painting contractors with essential and improved skills and knowledge for successful home and commercial painting projects," Williams said.
