‘Demon’ post on Wayne Wonder's Facebook page sparks feud with Buju Banton
A post appearing on Wayne Wonder's official Facebook page has ignited fresh controversy between the veteran singer and Buju Banton, following a recent interview that stirred talk of a long-standing rift.
The post, which began circulating online shortly after Buju's sit-down with Queenzflip, described the reggae icon as a "demon" and pushed back against claims made during the interview.
In that interview, Buju spoke broadly about broken friendships, betrayal, and loyalty, with many fans linking his comments to his decades-old relationship with Wayne Wonder.
However, the statement shared on Wayne Wonder's Facebook page on Mondaypainted a very different picture, alleging that Buju misrepresented their history.
The post claimed that Wayne had supported Buju during his legal troubles, including visiting him while he was in custody and during periods of house arrest, contradicting suggestions that he had not shown up.
It also made serious allegations surrounding songwriting credits and royalties, referencing well-known tracks such as Murderer, Deportee, and It's Not An Easy Road, and suggesting that contributions were not properly acknowledged.
Additionally, the message accused Buju of being "greedy" and outlined what it described as a one-sided relationship dating back to the early days of their careers.
Despite the strong language, it remains unclear who authored the post. While it was published on Wayne Wonder's verified Facebook account, there has been no independent confirmation that it was written by the artiste himself. Based on the tone and language used, the statement appears to have been made by someone speaking on Wayne's behalf.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly attributed comments posted on Wayne Wonder's Facebook account to the artiste himself. The story has been updated to reflect the accurate attribution.
