Reggae icon Sizzla Kalonji marked his 50th birthday on Friday with an intimate celebration at home.

The event officially began at 9:42 p.m. with Sizzla grounding the celebration in spirituality, opening with Psalms 23 just before welcoming his guests. In a reflective mood, he shared glimpses of his life's journey, acknowledging the people and experiences that have shaped his path over more than three decades in music.

It was a gathering of stars, as some of Jamaica's finest came out in full support. Among them were Christopher Martin, Turbulence, Bugle, RDX, Iba Mahr, Ninja Kid and many more famous faces and a host of other notable figures. DJ Alpachino kept the energy alive throughout, delivering soundtracks that matched decades of music transcending generations.

Sizzla was also presented with a rare Decades rum from Appleton Estate, personally signed by Jamaica's first female master blender -- Joy Spence.

Mark Telfer, channel and customer marketing manager, made the presentation and acknowledged Sizzla's enduring contribution, not only to music but to Jamaican culture as a whole and his longstanding relationship with J. Wray and Nephew Limited.

"Sizzla is a cultural force whose music has inspired and uplifted people across the world. To be able to honour him at 50 with something as special as our Appleton Estate Decades rum is truly meaningful for us as a brand. It's about celebrating legacy, excellence, and a journey that continues to impact generations," said Telfer.

"Sizzla has been an integral part of the brand over the years as he has performed across numerous activations for the brand over the years and by extension, over 30 years in the music business," he added.

Sizzla expressed heartfelt gratitude. "Such a surprise... I'm so elated. I'm honoured. During this half a century I'm celebrating, to be presented with such a great gift from Appleton, I'm telling you, head over heels. I'm honoured, thank you very much," he said.

Reflecting on the outpouring of support, Sizzla shared, "It's appreciation over neglect...people reaching out and showing support because you have been showing people the light through the music. So now, people can have some time to speak and give you whatever they want to give you, whether it be cash, kind, whatever, spiritual, mental, but I really like the support tonight."

And while 50 marks a significant chapter, for Sizzla, the journey is far from over. "A whole lot more is coming. I can't foretell the future. But, I'm ready, I'm prepped to do the work and the journey continues," he stated. "And, you know, it's redemption, reparation, and we never stop. We just keep on going, being solid as a rock, shaping minds through education," he affirmed.
