GC Foster College to host javelin clinic - US Olympic medallist Curtis Thompson to spearhead development exercise

The G.C. Foster College of Physical Education and Sport, in tandem with the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), will host a javelin clinic on Thursday, February 19, led by the United States' internationally accomplished javelin thrower Curtis Thompson.

The clinic is open to coaches and athletes at all levels and forms part of G.C. Foster College's ongoing commitment to technical development, coach education, and athlete performance excellence within Jamaica's track and field ecosystem.

Thompson, a consistent international competitor who has represented the United States at the Olympic Games and a bronze medallist at the 2025 World Championship, will share technical insights, training methodologies, and performance strategies drawn from his elite competitive experience.

Participants will benefit from both theoretical instruction and practical, on-field demonstrations designed to enhance skill execution and coaching effectiveness.

The clinic will be coordinated by coach Marlon Gayle, who noted that the session provides a valuable opportunity for knowledge transfer and capacity building within the discipline.

"This clinic represents an important collaboration between G.C. Foster College and the JAAA, and it allows coaches and athletes to engage directly with an elite practitioner of the event," said Gayle.

"Our goal is to strengthen the technical base of javelin throwing across all levels in Jamaica."

The clinic aligns with national efforts to deepen Jamaica's field events programme while providing structured learning opportunities for emerging and established athletes.

The session will start at 9 a.m. at the college facility.
