RIO DE JANEIRO, AP:

THE opening football match for the Olympic men's tournament will be in Brasilia on August 4, a day before the opening ceremony for the Rio de Janeiro Games.

The women's tournament will open on August 3 in Rio's Maracana Stadium.

Both finals will be at Maracana, the venue for last year's World Cup final. The women's final is on August 19 followed by the men on August 20.

Organisers confirmed yesterday that seven stadiums will be used two in Rio de Janeiro, and the others in Brasilia, Manaus, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, and Sao Paulo.
