Kenyah Wilson, a 14-year-old ward of the State, went missing last Thursday, and her mother Karrell Bennett is pleading with the public for assistance in locating her.

Kenyah was last seen at a facility in Falmouth, Trelawny on the morning that she vanished. Reports from the Falmouth police are that at 11 a.m., Kenyah was last seen at the home. Her mode of dress at the time that she went missing is unknown. The teenager is of fair complexion, slim build and about 177 centimetres tall.

Bennett said her daughter was placed into State care earlier this year following a series of behavioural issues.

"She went to the home for rehabilitation because she was earlier given a psychiatric evaluation and she was suffering from depression, manic episodes and a whole list of stuff. I was getting good feedback so I see where she was improving so I thought she would return home soon," she said.

Bennett said she visited her daughter following the passage of Hurricane Melissa and things appeared normal, however, days later she got a call that her daughter had run away.

"I was told that a part of the back fence was torn down and that was how she and two other wards managed to escape. I was told that the security saw them but they were already far off and they just left the place and nobody can find them now. We don't have any family that side and she is just roaming the place and I don't know where she is," said a tearful Bennett.

"I want my daughter to come home and she know she can call me. She can make her way to Kingston and she knows Half-Way Tree Police Station or where to find help. I just need to find her and I want her to be safe," Bennett added.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Kenyah Wilson is being asked to contact the Falmouth police at 876-954-3271 or the nearest police station.
