Police encourage residents to use Stay Alert app
The St Catherine North police have implored residents to log on to the Ministry of National Security's Stay Alert App. "This is a very important tool that can be the difference between you being a victim of a crime or one who helps to solve it. This app can get you immediate assistance from the police. It is like a GPS," said Corporal Garfield Wallace from the Community Safety and Security Branch.
He said that those who have the app are able to help prevent others from becoming victims of crimes.
Wallace was speaking at the St Jago High School in St Catherine on Thursday.
He said that the police continue to educate the residents on their rights under the law.
Wallace also told parents that they need to become aware of how to enter and exit their communities from different routes.
In addition, he encouraged parents to tell their children to walk in groups and to take only legal taxis.
